Pre-Production
Storyboard
When it comes to the storyboard, Brandon and I worked closely in order to make sure the story went as planned. I also helped draw out some of the panels to help visualise my plan. I personally find it difficult to complete a storyboard as a group due to the fact that everyone has different ideas and no director has been assigned. I dislike this way of working and would rather have an assigned leader that everyone must obey by. If we were to do this project again, and this goes for all pre-production work involved, I would like to enforce a leadership role within my group in order to make sure everyone is working effectively and efficiently. I personally tried to take on this role but due to nothing being firmly in place there were times where people would disregard what I say.
Shot List
When I first saw the script I already had an idea of what I wanted to do and so I took on the shot list as my piece of pre-production for the group. I had used the template I had made from the first assignment as that proved to be effective. I knew I wanted it to have an eerie and edgy look so I planned out a few dolly shots and a fair few close ups. A lot of the shots I planned ended up getting filmed and I was happy with them, although due to the location the lighting was a bit off at some points which could have been fixed if we reviewed footage on set thoroughly. A few of the shots I planned were changed on set for a few reasons; the location didn't allow it, they didn't turn out as planned, better shots were thought of. There aren't many adjustments I would make to the shot list but one I can think of is more direction for the camera man - for example adding how long the dolly should last/how far to travel and ideas like that.
Schedule
The schedule was not my job to create but I did, however, provide Ben with a template I made and helped him figure out a few dates. Ben's main struggle, that I noticed, was that he wasn't entirely sure what was happening and so he couldn't work out when we needed things done. I helped him figure out what we needed to get done so we could figure out a schedule. I couldn't really fault Ben for this as I was just as clueless at first but then we went through the assignment brief together and broke it down into small tasks whilst setting realistic dates to get them done by.
